About us:
The Airport Simulation and Performance Assessment Group (ASPAG) is a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience in the air transportation domain. The focus of ASPAG is to address more general and tool-overlapping issues, methods or developments in the field of airside simulation and performance assessment within Airport and TMA operations that apply to all analysis in that field.
- ASPAG is open to every person interested;
- ASPAG meets twice annually, generally, in spring and fall;
- Membership is free of charge;
- Participation to the meetings is on one’s own expense.

We are very happy that we already can announce that Copenhagen Airport has volunteered to host the next ASPAG meeting on October 29 & 30, 2026.
We are looking forward meeting you in the great city of Copenhagen, a location not to be missed !
The meeting will begin as usual on Thursday 1300 hrs and ends on Friday 1300 hrs.
The valuable social event always attended well, is planned for Thursday evening, as usual.
So, please check your calendars and secure at least a 2-day slot!
In order to facilitate the preparation of the agenda, we would be very grateful if you could propose your contribution, be it a presentation or a talk. Also, let the Chairmen know, any topic you would like to be discussed with the participants i.e. in a workshop type of set-up?

ASPAG #18 – hosted by Prague Airport!
It was great to be back in one room with the active ASPAG community, this time at PRG Airport, enjoying Czech hospitality.
ASPAG brings together data analysts, simulation experts and operations specialists to assess and improve airport performance through simulation.These sessions remain invaluable: a space to present work, challenge assumptions, exchange experience and tackle key operational questions.
Over two days, we explored:
✅ How airports use various simulation tools
✅ Evolving methodologies for infrastructure capacity calculations
✅ The future of human–automation teaming and ATC workload
✅ How simulations support improvements in ground operations
✅ Benefits of deeper collaboration with (local) academia
✅ Practical applications of AI and data platforms
—beyond buzzwords, focusing on real value in data assessment
Key takeaway: Both advanced tools and legacy simulations deliver results—but without expert preparation and continuous validation, outputs can mislead. This may sound obvious, yet visually convincing simulations often go unquestioned—especially under time pressure—risking decisions on costly infrastructure, systems or processes without sufficient challenge.
ASPAG continues to stand out as a cross-stakeholder forum—uniting ANSPs, airports, academia, consultants and technology providers around one goal: making airport and airspace operations smarter and more efficient.
It was very rewarding to see ~30% new participants at this 18th meeting—bringing fresh perspectives and knowledge on leveraging emerging technologies.
Beyond sharing experience, ASPAG also enables solution providers to showcase innovation. AI is becoming increasingly relevant, improving speed and quality of assessments and gradually moving into operational use.
Everyone leaves with new connections and fresh insights. As always, conversations during coffee breaks are often as valuable as the formal sessions.A big thank you to Prague Airport for their support. Thank you to Martin Kučera, Pavel Beníšek; Petr Líkař and Petr Had! Also for the unique opportunity to walk the runway during RWY 24 construction, as well as witnessing a real-time airside fire-fighting simulation.
